And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

Luke 5:29

Calvary's Sunday school program provides a special place for children to come together in an environment that fosters spiritual growth, a sense of community and fun. We are blessed with an excellent of team of volunteer teachers from pre-K through 12th grade. Youth classes begin at 9 am while grades pre-k through six begin with spiritual enrichment led by Father Steven in the Children's Chapel at 9:40 am. Music, hands-on-crafts, drama, stories and prayer typify our mornings together. Our primary and intermediate classes utilize the NIV Kids Study Bibles. For the youngest members of our parish, the nursery provides care from 9-11 each Sunday morning by staff trained in both CPR and Safe Church practices.

To develop and maintain a Sunday school program that is rich in biblical teachings while fostering a sense of fun and community.

Through our mission statement: "To develop and maintain a Sunday school program that is rich in biblical teachings while fostering a sense of fun and community." we are integrating our youth in all aspects of life in our church, from baptism through confirmation.

Youth Programs

Our youth program, for grades 7-12, provides opportunities for personal growth, community responsibility through our outreach programs and Christian education. Themes such as art in religion, violence, rage and tolerance are explored during Sunday school. In addition to class time, you will be involved in mission projects, such as painting of a local community center on MLK Day, and social activities such as a bike trip, lock-in, movie night, rock climbing, ski day, to name just a few. Confirmation takes place in the Spring for kids in grades 10 and higher who are ready to re-confirm their commitment to the church.

Our adult education program is a diverse and varied study of Christianity led by Calvin Steck. During the past several years topics have covered a survey of the Book of Common Prayer, Genesis (how to read the Bible), the Apocrypha, the New Testament (including why certain books are included), and Early Christian Writings. Adult education is offered on Sundays from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. If you are interested in learning more about your church, history, or why we do it this way, please join us for spirited discussions.

Corner House

Corner House Nursery School was established in 1960 as a private school sponsored by Calvary Episcopal Church. Guided by professionally-qualified teachers, we offer preschool classes for 2, 3, 4, and 5 year old children. We offer a child-oriented, nurturing environment that provides children of all faiths a venue to learn through exploratory, play-oriented, and hands-on activities that are developmentally appropriate and intellectually stimulating. Each classroom has a large variety of play and instructional equipment that has been carefully selected both for its contribution to learning and its safety standards. Corner House gives children the opportunity to encounter new and varied experiences through a program of well-planned, yet flexible activities. The school is overseen by the Vestry and Clergy of Calvary. It operates on a day-to-day basis by an Education Director and a volunteer Parent Board.
