Calvary's Ministries
Calvary offers a rich variety of ministries in addition to our Sunday weekly liturgy. There are many opportunities for you to expand and explore your faith either by yourself or with fellow parish members. Below are just a few....
Worship Ministries
There are many aspects that make up our worship at Calvary. Our Sunday services (as well as services during the week) are accomplished by the dedicated work of many groups. The Altar Guild cares for the altar linens, polishes the silver and brass, sets out the wine and the bread, prepares the candles, and sets up for Sunday and weekday services. The Altar Guild also makes sure that we have a good supply of bread, wine, candles, and clean linens.
The services are accomplished with the help several other groups including Chalice Bearers, Acolytes, Lectors, Intercessors and Ushers. Music is a very large part of worship at Calvary. More information can be found here. All of the groups have associated committees. Please contact the church office if you are interested in finding out more.
Service and Outreach Ministries
There are also many groups that function outside of our services. Some minister within our parish such as the Buildings and Grounds Committee and Congregational Care. Other committees such as Flower, Mission, and Planned Giving work with our parishioners mostly outside of our parish walls. Some of the benefactors of these ministries are shut-ins, School #30, and Friends of the Night People. For further information concerning these ministries, please contact the church office.
Fellowship Ministries
Calvary is full of active groups and get togethers. The Parish Life Committee plans gatherings for our Parish. Please visit the Events page for details of upcoming activities.
Circles is a great time for all. Each fall the Parish forms groups of 4-5 couples (singles are included) that meet around once a month at rotating homes to enjoy friendship and fellowship. Parishioners who participate in this year long program build long and faithful relationships.
Our Senior Class is also very active. Over the years this group has gone on tours, seen plays, taken hikes, and even gone on a boat trip! Who says retirement can't be fun!
If you want to be a part of all the excitement at Calvary, please contact the church office.
School #30
Have you heard the news? School #77 has a new home, School #30, located on Lowell and Rhode Island Streets. This is a much larger, newly renovated school. Mr. Frioth will be the principal. Again, we will be working with the primary grades. Volunteers that previously helped at School #77 are very excited about the new venue and are planning to continue volunteering. We would like to see some new faces. This is such a gratifying experience. If you are interested in learning more about the school or volunteering, please contact the church office for more details.
