Welcome to Children and Youth (CYM) Ministry at Calvary. Below you will find information pertaining to the different classes and programs for all age groups. If you need to reach The CYM Committee, please feel free to call (716) 633-7800 during normal business hours.

Classes for ages 4 through 6th grade meet weekly at 9:40 starting in the Children's Chapel with Father Steven.
Classes 7 through 12 meet at 9:00am and attend the 10:00am service.

Nursery (ages 6 months - 3 years)

Our nursery uses two paid staff caregivers and utilizes parent volunteers each week. Small activities and a lot of  playmates and  attention are offered  to our littlest parishioners. Hours are 9:00am to 11:00am

Beginner's Class (ages 4-6)Back to Top

Six year olds may join either this class or the Primary class depending on their reading ability. Our curriculum will include monthly thematic units such as friendship, family compassion and forgiveness in introduce  the Christian community. This year we  Children join their parents at 10:40 for communion.

Primary Class (grades 1-3)Back to Top

Our curriculum will include the thematic units to begin the journey into Christian Life. Children join their parents at 10:40 for communion.

Intermediate Class (grades 4-6)Back to Top

Our curriculum will focus on the idea of "I am Episcopalian Children j: one Holy Catholic and Apostolic" Children join their parents at 10:40 for communion.

Junior High- (grades 7 & 8)Back to Top

This first two year segment of the program, guided by two or more adults, is designed to recognize the passage out of ‘childhood’ and the beginning of the journey to becoming an adult Christian. Sunday morning classes are from 9am to 10am. The group can participate in many additional activities outside of Sunday morning.

Senior High (grades 9 - 12)Back to Top

This second 2 year segment, guided by 2 or more adults, focuses on 'self', 'society', 'sexuality' and 'spirituality'. During this time, students will be encouraged to begin to take ownership of their spiritual journey. Classes are Sunday mornings from 9am to 10am. This class also involves many additional activities outside of Sunday mornings

A Child and Family Friendly Environment

To make families with children comfortable at Calvary we offer:

  • Nursery care for children ages 6 months to 3 years during Sunday morning and special Evensong Services, served by a regular paid childcare provider plus weekly parent volunteers.
  • Sunday morning snack and beverage center in the lower level Sunday School corridor.
  • Cheerful designated rooms for children and youth activities and classes.
  • A dedicated, family-friendly space for children to meet and play during the Coffee Hour following the 10 am service.
  • Infant changing tables on the lower level and Scaife Room restrooms.
  • Two private youth rooms and a large recreational space which includes a pool table, broom ball equipment, and games.

Children Ministry Committee:
Meetings are held monthly and can be found on the calendar of events . Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and play a part in their child's sunday school experience.
